The national bird of India symbolises grace, pride and beauty. They are a sign of joy for all who see him. This is a subject I have spent some time planning, a lifetime in fact. It is a vision created through endless dreams and thoughts. I guess you could say I really had no choice. With the myriads of colours of the peacock he really does come to life, much the same way as gem opal, a true marrying of two subjects. This unique piece of art will never be re-created.
There are approximately 90,000 pieces of gem opal = 225 carats in this piece.
This piece measures 920mm x 50mm x 590mm (framed)
Indian Peacock was created in six months

The design of an image is etched into 4mm thick black glass. The etching is inlayed with Lightning Ridge, gem quality black opal that has been selected and cut for its brilliance and lustre. The finished piece is then framed and when mounted on a wall or perhaps a bench top with lighting directed on it, the image comes to life! A truly beautiful spectacular masterpiece.
