EMU AND CHICKS
The emu is a large flightless bird they stand to be 1.5 to 2 metres tall and on average weigh 36 kilograms. They have 3 toes and long legs which allows them to run extremely fast. In this species the female is larger than the male. The nest of the emu can be up to 1.5 metres wide. The female lays up to 20 eggs. The male incubates the eggs for a period of 7-8 weeks. When the eggs hatch the male emu looks after the hatchlings for another 6 months.

The design of an image is etched into 4mm thick black glass. The etching is embedded with Lightning Ridge, gem quality black opal that has been selected and cut for its brilliance and lustre. The finished piece is then framed and when mounted on a wall or perhaps a bench top with lighting directed on it, the image comes to life! A truly beautiful spectacular masterpiece.
