Kookaburra is the largest kingfisher in the world. They were found right along the east coast and were introduced to Western Australia in 1898 and are now established in the South West corner of that state. They have adapted readily to humans, and will eat almost anything. They will steal a sausage from a BBQ, and will take other food. In the bush they eat small lizards and snakes. They usually nest in a large tree. They lay between 2 and 4 eggs usually in spring.

The design of an image is etched into 4mm thick black glass. The etching is embedded with Lightning Ridge, gem quality black opal that has been selected and cut for its brilliance and lustre. The finished piece is then framed and when mounted on a wall or perhaps a bench top with lighting directed on it, the image comes to life! A truly beautiful spectacular masterpiece.
